Why I built this
Marc Feldmann
I taught for thirty years in Lynn, Massachusetts: AP and Honors English, and the Speech and Debate program I built at Lynn Classical. Decade after decade I watched the same thing happen. Kids got handed pieces in whatever order suited the system, and then got blamed when nothing connected.
Then I retired and started building.
Music has been my life the whole time. I DJed, I was in a b-boy crew, and I've been producing since I was a kid. Right now I'm studying reggae and dancehall production under a Grammy-nominated production team in Jamaica. I'm still a student. That's the point.
I know this from both sides. A kid who loves music will watch tutorials for hours and come out with nothing finished. That's not because they aren't smart. It's because nobody put the skills in order. You can't understand compression before gain staging. You can't write a progression that works if you've never locked a melody to the grid.
So I sequenced it: six modules and thirty lessons, in the order the skills actually build. The lessons are generated from that sequence and adjust to your student's level. A ten-year-old and a seventeen-year-old both work at the edge of what they can do. It works in Ableton, FL Studio, Logic, Bitwig, Serato Studio, or Fender Studio Pro, because the skills are the skills.
Parents: this is built to document. Every module has outcomes you can put in a homeschool record. It ends with three original tracks, a body of work and not a pile of watch hours.
